Louisville Mayoral Candidate Craig Greenberg Safe After Being Targeted in Shooting at Campaign Office

Democratic Louisville Mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg narrowly avoid being shot Monday morning at his campaign office in Louisville, according to LMPD police reports.

Greenberg took to social media to tell the community he and his team were safe and talking to the Louisville Metro Police Department after a gunman opened fire Monday morning.

“My team and I are fortunately all safe. We are with LMPD now,” Greenberg wrote on Twitter. “I will provide an update as soon as possible. Thank you for the outpouring of support.”

Louisville Metro Council President David James told Louisville news outlets Greenberg was the target of the shooting inside the candidates campaign office on the fourth floor of the Butchertown Market. WFPL managing editor Ryland Barton tweeted during a press update from LMPD Chief Erika Shields confirming Greenberg was the target of the shooting.

Shields told reporters that the gunman acted alone, and was soon arrested following the shooting. She said a bullet narrowly missed Greenberg and that it appeared a bullet grazed his clothing, according to news reports.

Last week Greenberg announced major endorsements to his campaign from multiple metro council members.
