Democratic Senate Candidate Raises $20k for Special Election

Democratic 22nd District state Senate candidate Helen Bukulmez has raised double digits for the November Special Election.

Bukulmez, an immigration and injury lawyer from Lexington, Kentucky, has brought in nearly $21,000 in contributions for the race to fill the unexpired term of the late Sen. Tom Buford, R-Nicholasville.

The contributions to Bukulmez campaign come from 76 individuals, according to records with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.

The Republican nominee for the seat Dr. Donald Douglas, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, does not have an October finance report available on the Registry’s website. The due date for the report is Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021.

The special election will take place on Nov. 2, 2021, in the 22nd Senate District which includes part of Fayette, all of Garrard, Jessamine, Mercer, Washington Counties.
