Fresh off of an endorsement from Gov. Andy Beshear, Democratic Louisville Mayoral nominee Craig Greenberg is being endorsed by a high-profile Louisville labor union.
The Greater Louisville Central Labor Council voted Thursday to endorse Greenberg for Mayor. A number of organized labor leaders, Metro Council members, and community advocates were on hand for the announcement at the United Auto Workers Local 862 headquarters, according to his campaign.
“As the husband, son and grandson of former union members, I am incredibly honored to have the support of the Central Labor Council and the thousands of hard-working families they represent,” said Greenberg, who won the Democratic primary in May by defeating seven other candidates. “Our city is strong when organized labor is strong and I am ready to work hand in hand with members of organized labor to build a safer, stronger, and healthier Louisville.”
The Greater Louisville Central Labor Council is a partnership of roughly 50 local unions and allied organizations. The partnership represents more than 50,000 workers from major local employers including Ford, GE, UPS, Kroger, and Metro Government.
“We need a Mayor who will make Louisville safer and who will improve the lives of our city’s hard-working families. The Central Labor Council knows we’ll have that in Craig,” said GLCLC President Todd Dunn. “He’s shown he’s willing to listen, willing to work to build consensus, and willing to get the job done. Craig has our full support and we look forward to working with him as our next Mayor.”
The GLCLC endorsement is in addition to 11 other major labor unions that have endorsed the Greenberg Campaign.
