Gov. Beshear Orders KY Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Bob Dole

Flags in the bluegrass state will fly at half-staff until sunset on Thursday, Dec. 9, in honor of former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole, who died Sunday.

Gov. Andy Beshear’s order comes after a proclamation from the White House ordering flags lowered at all public places, military posts, and naval stations as a mark of respect to Dole, a hero of World War II and one of the longest serving Republican United States Senators. Dole was the Republican nominee for president in 1996.

Dole will lie in state at the US Capitol Rotunda Thursday, Dec. 9.

He was 98 years old.
